Most commercial websites exist to promote the owner's products and services - or at least they should do.
Designers often choose to forget that fact and become fascinated by visual gimmicks.
In order to work well a website should possess the following characteristics:
• Fast loading
• Clear and informative
• Interesting to view and read
You would think these three points were obvious - yet they are so often forgotten.
Think about why people use the Internet and how they search:
People search for information, they click through many sites in search of what they want - and they do so quickly.
So the next two factors are important:
1. The site must get visitors' attention instantly
2. The site must then interest the visitor long enough to convince them to purchase - or at least make an enquiry.
